Meet the Editors


O. Hugo Benavides

Hugo worked in the Academy for thirty years and continues to be invested in the life of the mind. He is currently working on a memoir of his growing up between Guayaquil and New York City. Cul-de-sac (a fancy word for dead end!) is a commitment to the belief that ideas, knowledge and the word matter, and a renewed commitment to community and solidarity.

Peter Dimock

Peter Dimock has worked in book publishing for more than thirty years and has written three novels published by Deep Vellum Publishing and Dalkey Archive Press.

Ciara O’Connor-Pozo

Ciara is an activist based in Derry, in the North of Ireland. She is passionate about reproductive justice, de/anti-colonialism, languages and the environment. Her background is in literature and languages, although she is currently pursuing an LLM in Human Rights. In her spare time she enjoys walking and swimming around the beautiful North West of Ireland.

Diane George

Diane George is an anthropologist, archaeologist, and attorney who is working her way through professions starting with A. Her academic work centers on colonialism and nationalism, with an interest in migration stemming from a previous life as an immigration lawyer. She likes to tell stories to her four dogs and in her spare time she rescues pups from all over the world.

Zuko Zikalala

zuko is a reader, writer from Soweto. zuko is a contributor to the collection Wondering Hands Spirited Ink: Snapshots into the Black Public Humanities. zuko is committed to working collectively with others to dream up worlds and futures for the children of Azania.

Doina Sandor

Doina enjoys getting lost in translation, being in water and playing. She wishes she could speak Arabic or Japanese and be able to sing in an opera. One day she will puff into the unknown.
